Support The Thompson Family Through NICU Journey

Jessica and her husband, Kyle, have been through more in the last year than most people go through in their lifetime. In June of 2024 Jessica received the unfathomable news that she had a form of breast cancer called invasive ductal carcinoma. At only 35 years old, a wife and mother to her 18 month old daughter, Jessica bravely completed several rounds of chemotherapy along with a double mastectomy. She, somehow through the midst of it all, could often be seen with the most radiant smile on her face, continuing to live her life the way she always had; putting others first. In the spring of 2025, Jessica and Kyle were beginning to come to terms with the difficult reality of being unable to safely have another child. Jessica had just begun taking a new medication, as a preventative measure, in hopes to keep the cancer from ever coming back. She was having an incredibly difficult time with what she thought was the medication. Headaches, nausea, a kind of fatigue she had never quite experienced. She finally went in to have bloodwork done and found out that not only was she pregnant, but she was having identical twin girls! At first, the doctors were concerned that the pregnancy wouldn’t be viable due to the close proximity to the chemo treatment. Again, Jessica was faced with adversity and bravely underwent CVS sampling where it was eventually determined that their baby girls were completely healthy! This news was the best they could hope for! Jessica, Kyle and their two year old daughter rapidly began renovating and expanding their home to prepare for their growing family!

Most recently, when Jessica and Kyle went in for her 29 week check up, they were sent to the hospital in San Francisco for closer monitoring of the twins due to issues with the blood flow to and from the babies. They were later admitted and told they would be in the hospital until the babies were delivered. On October 13th 2025, Jessica and Kyle welcomed their tiny baby girls to the world via C-section at just 30 weeks and 2 days gestation.

Although Jessica and Kyle are so excited to have their girls here with them, some big challenges have also arisen from it. They will be commuting back and forth (almost 2 hours each way) to be as present as possible for both their daughter at home and their twins in the NICU. As someone who has been in a similar situation personally, I know how significant the financial burden of having two babies in a NICU hours away is. I couldn’t even imagine doing all that is required while simultaneously having a young child at home. I am hopeful that by all of us coming together to help ease the financial burden, it will allow them to put their focus and energy into the NICU journey that awaits them. Kyle and Jessica aren’t the type of people who seek help from others. Those of you who know them already know their integrity, their work ethic, and how quick they are to lend a helping hand to those in need. Despite all the struggles they’ve been faced with in the past year and a half, they’ve never asked for our help. Now they could really use it. All of the money that is donated will go towards medical expenses for Jessica and the girls, as well as gas, parking, food, hotels, and any other expenses that may arise during this journey. I will continue to post updates on the girls and their progress on behalf Jess and Kyle as they come in, but for now thank you for reading and please keep this sweet family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this challenging chapter. Thank you!
