Hi, I’m Vinnie Camilleri — a UK-based filmmaker, editor, and composer.
I’m making a short film called The Templar, set on the English coast in January 1308. The story follows a lone Templar who washes ashore after a shipwreck and is forced to disappear into ordinary life to survive. It’s a grounded, cinematic film about identity, faith, survival, and what a man becomes when the symbols are stripped away.
I’m raising £5,000 to cover the essentials: costume, props, beach shipwreck set dressing, travel, and professional dialogue recording.
For years I’ve made my living delivering commercials end-to-end: taking an idea, filming it, finishing it properly, and getting it out to a professional standard. For this project, I’m directing and filming, then handling the edit, colour grade, and music myself — which cuts a huge amount of cost, so support goes into what you’ll actually see and hear on screen. This short film is the first step — my long-term goal is to expand The Templar into a full feature film.
Filming is planned to start in late Spring 2026. I’ll post regular updates here as the project moves through filming and finishing.
Doing the main production work myself keeps this project lean, but we still need the practical elements that make the world feel authentic and the film look polished — especially the opening shipwreck sequence. We’re also keeping the crew small, but we plan to hire a professional sound recordist / boom operator to capture clean dialogue on location (especially on the beach and in the woods).
What your donation helps pay for
• Period costume and wardrobe (Templar clothing, tunic, ageing/distressing)
• Props and set dressing (sword/scabbard, belt, pendant, practical details)
• Beach shipwreck set dressing (wood, rope, boards and debris to recreate the wreckage on the shoreline)
• Professional dialogue recording (sound recordist / boom operator for clean on-location audio)
• Travel for filming (flights + accommodation)

Updates
I’ll post progress updates here on GoFundMe, including behind-the-scenes photos as we build props and prepare for filming. I’ll aim to update regularly and at key milestones.
Thanks for supporting the project — even sharing the page helps.
