My name is Jamela. I am starting this GoFundMe, with their permission, for my cousin, Melanie, and her family. They are going through a devastating loss due to the Kona Low Storm. Please read their story below.

Aloha,

We are DA TEIXEIRA'S. Kingsley and Melanie, along with our four kids Branigan, Kasidee, Chaden, and Landon. We were all born and raised in Waialua and North Shore. We have lived in Otake Camp for the past 15 years.

Living in Otake Camp, we are always on alert when the weather is bad due to living right next to the river. On Friday March 20, 2026, a powerful Kona Low Storm swept through Oahu, severely impacting the Waialua, Otake, Haleiwa, and North Shore areas.

We are one of the families that have lost our entire home and everything that we own. The storm caused so much significant damage to us and our community. It is so much devastation, shock, and loss during an already difficult time for our family.

In December 2025, Kingsley suffered a massive stroke that changed our lives overnight. He was in Queen's Hospital for a couple of months. Now, he is currently still on the road to recovery as he is in a rehab and care facility. It has been a long and challenging past few months, with countless medical appointments, hospital stays, and unexpected expenses.

Just as we were adjusting to this new reality, another hardship struck with the loss of our entire home and everything we own.

Now, we are currently in search of finding our new home and facing the daunting task of rebuilding our lives and finding a new home. The costs of Kinglsey's medical care, our daily expenses, current bills, etc. have all quickly become overwhelming. Despite these challenges, we remain hopeful and grateful for the support of our friends, our family, and our community.
