Friends of the Stringers,

As anyone who has experienced cancer or had family that has experienced it knows, cancer is more disruptive than medical treatments and recovery. It can make small things hard and regular things a burden. In hardship, though, we reinforce the bonds of friendship through small acts of kindness and compassion.

Last fall, Avery's doctors discovered a small mass on her kidney. Further testing has indicated it is likely to be a cancerous tumor, and she is scheduled for surgery June 5. The Stringers are thankful to share that the surgery is expected to be curative!

Holten and Avery are the people least likely to ask for help, but the most likely to give it. In true millennial fashion, even the thought of burdening their friends and family makes them a little uncomfortable. The truth is, though, they are consistently the first to step up for us when we fall on hard times. That's why so many have asked how they can support them, whether they asked for it or not, during their time of need.

This fund is a centralized way for us to do just that. Donations go directly to the Stringers to cover the costs of meals, medical and surgical bills, lost time at work, or any other unforeseen expense that may come from a cancer diagnosis.

The Stringers have made it clear they do NOT want this to be perceived as a solicitation for money, which is why any excess funds will be donated to charity. It is simply a way for those who wish to help in some small way to do so.
