Let me take a moment to explain how in the blink of an eye things can so quickly change. I woke up Thursday morning, July 3rd, like every other morning. Had my Dunkin coffee, took Maccoy for a walk to see the moo cows, and was anticipating going to the annual 4th of July farmers market, parade, and fireworks on Thursday. However, on Tuesday evening, Harlie took me to Hamilton Hospital with extreme belly pain. Absolutely nothing they gave me could control the pain.
Early Thursday morning, the 4th, I was transferred to Crouse via ambulance. When I got here, they did a CT scan and unbeknownst to me, I was headed into the first surgery that morning for bowel resection. At 11:20 that night, Harlie and my mom got a phone call saying I was going sepsis so I was being taken back into the OR for more bowel removal and the next hours were critical.
On Saturday, I was being taken back yet again to the OR for a hysterectomy for premature rupture of membranes in which we lost our little girl, Maklyn Kate, at 21 weeks. They also did another check on my bowel. This entire time my abdomen was left open due to uncertainty of the bowel issues. On Wednesday, 7/10, I took the final trip (I hope) to reconnect what little bowel I have left and close me up.
So, I am currently at Crouse in ICU with a grand total of 5 surgeries. But I am alive and getting stronger every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you doesn't even begin to cover what everyone has done and said. They said it takes a village, that is so true! Not once have I had to worry about the kids having food, being transported to games, laundry being done, Maccoy watched. The food, money, and the list goes on. I'm sure I'm forgetting something or someone but it has not been unnoticed.
My life changed and will never be the same but neither will my heart.
