#WeLoveTeachers  — GoFundMe is running a promotion: if I raise $500 bucks by May 18th (my birthday, btw), I could get a $1000 donation to the Andrew P. Hill High School Theater program. Many of my Facebook friends know about our theater. We went from a Cafeteria to a portable to the old metal shop. While teaching theater in a 60 year old metal shop has its perks (like lots of storage and a costume room!), the infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired. We use portable lighting and a portable stage. One of my lights just burnt out. Andrew Hill is a Title I school with no funding to spare. Our theater lives hand to mouth. It teaches students you can start a theater anywhere, and that's kind of punk rock, no? At the same time, we need help bringing this new theater space to life. We want new lights, and we want more of them — far more than the eight we've got (most small theaters have at least 30). We need sound equipment. We need costumes. We need money for royalty plays. We need backdrops, and lumber, and set materials. We'd love to take more field trips to our local theaters. For now, let's go for the lights.
