Support the Speight Family Impacted by Eaton Fire Disaster

Donation protected
My name is Amber and this support fund has been created on behalf of my amazing parents, Charles & Lynette Speight. My parents have been light pillars living in the Altadena community for over 20 years, where they found a second chance at love, with each other, meeting at our family home church (Lifeline Fellowship Christian Center, formerly Christ Temple). They raised their blended family of four daughters in the beautiful community of Altadena and nurtured a village of a love and safety and unity over the years. Due to the Eaton fire, that began on late evening of January 7, 2025, my parents had to urgently evacuate from their home with only a few essentials and the clothes on their backs. Within 36 hours, most of Altadena was left unrecognizable amid the ashes. Since then, they have not been able to return to their home as they live in a mandatory evacuation zone and we have no idea when they will be able to return; and additionally, if their place will be livable as they have a number of pre-existing health conditions. The power is still not restored, the city water is contaminated, and the air quality is hazardous. Just last January, my mom unexpectedly experienced three minor strokes, which she has been slowly recovering from. Chronic stress and grief were major contributors to what my mom experienced last year. So, imagine having to abruptly be displaced from your home and experience such a huge loss of comfort and safety knowing our beloved city of Altadena has been majorly burned down as a whole.

My parents are usually the ones to serve their community but they are in need of support this time around. We’re seeking support to cover unexpected costs and to create some stability. These funds will assist with needs that might not be fully covered by other sources of aid. Your help will allow us to address the many aspects of recovery and support our family through this crisis. They are currently living with me in Los Angeles but still have to commute to Pasadena due to ongoing doctors’ appointments. Also, if they are ever able to return to their home, they will need to inspect their home and pay for any deep cleaning to make the space a healthy environment or figure out a different living arrangement. As people of faith, we have hope that the community will overcome this and be stronger than ever but so much devastation has left many families scrambling for some sense of stability. Thank you in advance for any generosity you can provide for my mom and dad. Even if you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your network and keeping them in your prayers is appreciated as well.

Seeing the local and national community come together to support all of these families in their recovery efforts during one of the most heartbreaking times has been the beauty amidst the aches! May we never lose this unity as we strive to rebuild our beloved city of Altadena and beyond.
