Support the Smith Family in Memory of Andy

This one hurts... Our family moved to Texas several years ago. I went before them to start work and look for a home. That first Sunday, I found our new church, and while attending for the first time, Andy was one of the first to come up to me and introduce himself. He immediately invited me to their home to have dinner with their family. That became the start of a long friendship between our two families. Over the years, our kids grew close, our wives grew close, and Andy and I also developed a close friendship. Because neither of our families had immediate family that lived nearby, we would often depend on each other for help and would combine our families together on holidays and for other special occasions. The Smith family became more than just friends to us... they are family.

When we learned of the news of Andy’s cancer diagnosis, we were heartbroken. Because of the placement of the tumor, it was going to be difficult and limit treatment options, so Andy quickly shifted his focus to the needs of his family and the possibility of securing their future without him. Seeing them battle through this these past couple of years has been both difficult but also inspiring when you recognize all the blessings they continue to receive. It doesn’t make it easier, but it confirms that God is aware, and His wisdom is greater than ours.

God called Andy home recently, and there is a hole left in our hearts. Those that know the Smith family know how dedicated they are to serving and helping others, and they have always extended a generous hand to others. In this time of need, this is our time to help repay favors and also honor Andy’s legacy by helping to lighten the Smith family’s burden a little bit. I’d encourage and invite anyone that is able to help to do so. 100% of any assistance will go directly to Laura to help cover funeral and medical expenses and help with other related needs.
