On Monday, January 26th, our good friends, the Simons family, experienced a house fire that resulted in the loss of their home and their belongings. Thankfully, Ryan, Brittany and the kids were not home at the time and everyone is safe. Sadly, their family dog, Gordie, did not survive the fire. His loss has added an unimaginable layer of grief to an already overwhelming situation.
The Simons have always been the kind of people who show up for others — consistently, and without ever expecting anything in return. Now, they are the ones in need of the same kindness and generosity they have so freely given to others over the years.
As they begin navigating the aftermath, they’re facing a number of unexpected expenses that come with starting over — temporary housing, clothing, food, basic necessities, replacing household items, and eventually rebuilding a sense of stability and home. Even with insurance, the road ahead is long, uncertain, and filled with expenses.
This fundraiser is simply a way for friends, family, and community members to support them during this time and help reduce some of the immediate financial pressure. All funds raised will go directly to the family and can be used wherever they’re needed most as they move forward.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated, and sharing this page is also a big help. Thank you for supporting this family and for being part of the community around them.
A special thanks already to Ryan and Brittany's neighbors, North Alabama Hockey Association Board, Skateworld, Bloom Dancewear, Dick's Sporting Goods in Jones Valley, Red Cross, Soles Dance Studio, Huntsville Wolfpack Lacrosse and Jones Valley Elementary for proactively reaching out to the family and extending support.
