Honoring the Life and Legacy of Florencio Silva
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Florencio Silva, born on November 2, 1952, to Maria and Salud Silva in Michoacán, Mexico.
Florencio grew up with humble beginnings, but he was full of ambition and a zest for life. As a young man, he journeyed between Mexico and California, driven by dreams of a better future. In 1983, he married the love of his life, Herminia Quezada, and together they built a home and a family in Mexico.
In 1990, Florencio made the brave decision to immigrate to California with his wife and three children — Jose, Omar, and Liliana — seeking new opportunities. He and Herminia worked tirelessly as field workers, always putting their family's needs first. A decade later, in 2000, they moved to Nebraska, where stable jobs at a meat packing plant allowed them to purchase a home and build a new life.
In 2020, Florencio's health began to decline rapidly due to unexplained weight loss. Despite numerous doctor visits, answers were hard to find. A visit to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota finally revealed a pancreatic mass. Although chemotherapy was initiated, it took a toll on his liver and kidneys, creating more complications.
Florencio and Herminia later moved to Texas to be closer to their daughter and to access better healthcare. There, with the help of compassionate specialists, he was able to manage his illness and fight bravely for nearly four years. Unfortunately, his condition worsened as the cancer spread aggressively, and further treatment was no longer possible.
Florencio is survived by his devoted wife, their three children, and two beautiful granddaughters — who were the light of his life. Their love gave him strength and purpose during his most difficult days, and they brought him moments of joy even in the hospital.
We are asking for your support to help cover funeral and medical expenses, and to ease the financial burden on his family during this difficult time. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference and is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for helping us honor Florencio’s legacy — a hardworking man who loved deeply, lived humbly, and always put his family first.
With love and gratitude,
The Silva Family
