Side-Out is more than regaining control of the ball on the court; it is also regaining control of the future. The Side-out Foundation brings the volleyball community together to raise awareness of stage four cancer and funds for treatment for metastatic breast cancer. We are helping extend the lives of those with stage four cancer. Will you help us spike our fundraising goal against breast cancer?

Dig, Rally, Raise

The Side-Out Foundation is a nonprofit organization in Fairfax, Virginia, that has developed a community of coaches, athletes, and teams to make a meaningful impact against stage 4 breast cancer --- the most advanced form. The Executive Director and Founder, Rick Dunetz, founded the organization in 2004 after his mother, Gloria, was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. Through the journey of telling her story and others with a similar diagnosis through volleyball matches nationwide, it became a movement across the United States: Dig Pink.

Through the campaign initiative, more than 9,000 athletic teams from middle school to college raise funds every year to support research and treatment options. Unlike other organizations, Side-Out recruits scientists and manages its own clinical research teams while also advocating for cancer patients.

Over the next three (3) weeks, as part of a graduate course at Drexel University, we are aiming to raise a minimum of $500 for the Side-Out Foundation. 100% of the donations we receive will be given to Side-out to support their main goal: helping people with metastatic breast cancer see more tomorrows.

While $500 may not be a large sum for cancer research, we aim to show that supporting causes for the betterment of our neighbors is attainable and impactful. By rotating this idea to the front of people’s minds, we are honored to spotlight the Side-Out Foundation --- and one day rally to the point where the amount of tomorrows for all those afflicted with metastatic breast cancer are countless.
