Your donation will fund the creation of a short doc piece about the Showtime Boys on the NYC subway. I have made some connections with them and the plan is to follow them around to see a day in their life and discover whatever we discover along the way. It is a freeform guerilla style doc.
I am co-directing and editing this with an established editor / filmmaker and we will likely be using 2-3 cameras. The cost breakdown is as follows.
Camera kit rental $300-400/day (For example FX3, and a zoom lens or two)
Two prosumer wireless audio kits. $400-800 to buy. Two kits for a total of 4 mics. Depends on how many people we need miced. They're so cheap none of the pro rental houses seem to carry them.
For proper interviews with lights, second camera, and prettier b-roll, hiring another cameraman. He can be had, with gear, for like $<800ish a day depending on whether there's additional crew and how tight the budget is.
For two to three days of shooting, this puts us at $2500ish at the low end and $4k at the highend.
