Hi, my name is Janice, and I originally created this GoFundMe on behalf of our dear friend Debbie Shanahan, co-owner of Low Knob Press in Cloverdale, CA, and the beloved Administrative Assistant/Office Manager at Ukiah United Methodist Church.

Now we are advocating on behalf of both Mike and Debbie.

Just as Debbie began her recovery from breast cancer, (along with the long term treatment plan that was causing untenable side effects), Mike had a cardiac arrest on June 29 and was in the ICU for a week. He is at home now, his recovery has begun (including the implantation of a defibrillator), and the doctors are encouraged by how quickly he's made progress. However, it has been made very clear that Mike cannot push himself too hard.

Even with insurance, and the desire to "get back to work", the bills are stacking up. The print shop is closed for now until the docs say it is ok for Mike to return to work. Debbie is working as much as she can at the church, but there is a limit there as well, both physically, and because, well, it is a part-time position.

As the owners of Low Knob Press in Cloverdale for over 16 years, the Shanahans have poured heart and soul into their small business, helping local schools, artists, nonprofits, and businesses with printing needs. Many of us have walked into the shop for a quick flyer or banner and left with not just a quality product—but a smile and a story. Debbie was instrumental in getting the shop officially designated as a "Bay Area Green Business." Since 2007, Debbie bas been the church secretary at Ukiah United Methodist Church. She is the first person you talk with or see during the week when interacting with the church. In addition to her church work both in Cloverdale and Ukiah, she has served the Cloverdale community by lending her skills to the Senior Center, first on the Board and then as Treasurer.

Debbie and Mike still really need our help.

The future of the print shop—Deb & Mike's life’s work—is still at risk.

Since we were able to meet our "stretch" goal of $15,000, we are now allowing GoFundMe to automate our goal upwards in order to provide extra funds to help cover the bills during Mike's recent cardiac arrest and his time in the ICU, and his recovery at home. Your generous donations have already helped so much to defray the ongoing medical expenses and to help keep the print shop afloat.

The Shanahans have shown up for us, and loved us, over the years—now it’s our turn.

Any amount helps. Whether it's $10, $100, or even simply sharing this campaign with your friends and family, your support means everything.

Let’s keep showing Debbie and Mike that they are not alone, and that their community has rallied together on their behalf!

Thank you in advance for your love, your prayers, and your generosity.
