My Birthday fundraiser for my local Chabad...what is Chabad?

Chabad is a place for all Jewish people regardless of financial status or level of religious observance. 

It all began 8 years ago when my father Adam met the Chabad Rabbi, Rabbi Blesofsky, while walking his dog. At the time my father and I thought it was a random occurrence- but now we know that in Judaism, there are no such things as coincidences!  Everything happens for a reason. My father and the Rabbi had an instant connection and invited us to come to a Friday night Shabbat dinner at their Chabad. Since then, Chabad has become a huge part of my spiritual journey. With their influence, kindness, and acceptance their support has strengthened my Jewish identity. 

Chabad of Scotch Plains organizes classes, discussions on Jewish topics, religious services, monthly community Shabbat dinners, kiddish lunches, Hebrew school for kids, holiday parties, adult learning classes and so much more. Chabad does not charge membership, if you are a Jew, you are welcome. They are sustained by the support of their community.

There are Chabads are all over the world to make Jewish life accessible for tourists, expats, or locals in areas with no other Jewish community. The mission of Chabad is extremely close to my heart. It is so comforting to know when I am on a road trip across the US, or backpacking in Europe or South America, I can always find community at a Chabad. 

For my 31st birthday in August, I am raising money for the growth and support of the Scotch Plains Chabad. Funds to help grow the educational and community capabilities of this special Chabad house! To me, it is more than raising funds but spreading the word that there is an amazing Chabad and an amazing Rabbi and Rebbetzin right here in Scotch Plains!
