Hi, my name is Andalina Scalia, and I just turned 17 years old. I’m starting this GoFundMe for my dad, Matt Scalia, my little brother, Jager (15), and myself.

This year has been extremely hard for our family. Our mom is currently in jail for a long time, and my dad recently became very sick and is unable to work or care for us right now. He’s been through so much — earlier this year, he found out he’s diabetic after a serious health scare. His blood sugar reached a dangerous level of 550, and he ended up in the hospital with liver and kidney failure. His bilirubin was 14. He also has a tumor on his gallbladder that doctors say needs to be removed.

My dad is staying with my grandparents as he learns to walk again and takes daily insulin shots. He’s doing his best to recover, but it’s a long road ahead. Meanwhile, I’m living with my older sister, who already has two kids of her own. She’s been so generous to take me and my brother in, but things are really tight. We’re struggling to keep up with bills, food, and basic needs — and my dad’s apartment might be lost if we can’t catch up soon.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help cover:

• Food and basic essentials for me, my brother, and my sister’s household

• Bills and rent to keep my dad’s apartment from being lost

• Transportation for doctor visits and medications

• Anything that can help us get through this difficult time

My dad works at Bob and John's La Hacienda and has always been a hard worker and would do anything for us. Seeing him sick and unable to walk has been heartbreaking, and I just want to help him and my family however I can.
