At Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico, owners dump dogs they don’t want anymore. Since 2011, The Sato Project has rescued more than 7,000 dogs and flown them to forever homes in New York.
In Puerto Rico there are an estimated 650,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. These dogs experience severe suffering - they don’t have any food, fresh water or vet care. There are only 5 shelters on the whole island and more than 94% of dogs who get to these shelters are killed.
