Sarah Elisabeth Campbell-Walters, age 24, of Oxford, Michigan, went home to be with Jesus on August 25, 2025. Born on May 28, 2001, Sarah spent her entire life in Oxford, where she was deeply rooted in her faith, her family, and her community.
A graduate of Oxford High School and a dedicated elementary school teacher in Lake Orion, Sarah had a deep and abiding love for children. She was known to many of her students as their “second mom,” a title she carried with warmth and humility. Her classroom was more than a place to learn—it was a space where every child felt safe, seen, and loved.
Sarah’s greatest desire was to become a mother. She poured that love and nurturing spirit into her students, her family, and her dearest friends. She shared a once-in-a-lifetime love story with her fiancé, Shae Walters, whom she had loved for over 9½ years. Together, they built a relationship marked by faith, joy, and a shared dream of a future filled with family and purpose.
She is survived by her loving parents, Phil and Dawn Campbell; her cherished siblings, Collin and Rachel Campbell; her fiancé, Shae Walters; her grandmother, Cindy Hortop; her aunt and uncle, Brian and Lisa Franey; her beloved cousins, Abigail Franey and Alaina and James Smither; her aunt, Lori Campbell; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Al Hortop and Rich and Kay Campbell.
Sarah was a devoted friend and a bright light to all who knew her. Her love for Jesus was the foundation of her life, and she lived with a mission to reflect His love in all she did. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply by being present, Sarah made it her life’s goal to bring more people to know and love Jesus.
She was loved deeply, and she loved even deeper.
In celebration of Sarah’s life and her passion for creating nurturing learning environments, the family is working to create a memorial fund in her name. The Sarah Campbell-Walters Classroom Fund will provide grants to teachers seeking to create classrooms filled with warmth, safety, and love—just as Sarah did every day.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.
—Ephesians 3:20
Sarah’s legacy of love, grace, and unwavering faith will live on in every life she touched.
