Support the Samford Family After Tragic Loss

It’s with broken hearts that we share the sudden and tragic passing of our dear friend, Richard Samford — a beloved husband, father, Navy veteran, and dedicated member of his community.

Rich’s life was defined by service, compassion, and integrity. He served his country proudly in the Navy, and that same spirit of dedication carried into every part of his life. Rich always showed up — humbly, and wholeheartedly.

Just recently, Rich had undergone surgery on his leg after a fall while out riding. In true Rich fashion, he was trying to avoid hitting a loose dog on a local mixed-use trail — thinking of others even in a split second of danger. While he was home recovering and seemed to be on the mend, tragedy struck suddenly. A blood clot took his life while he was at home recuperating.

Today has been an incredibly difficult day for all of us who loved him. Some of us had the chance to say goodbye to Rich one last time — a moment filled with deep sorrow, love, and reflection on the impact he made in our lives. His absence leaves a hole that words can’t fill.

A service to honor Rich’s life will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on November 18th at 2:30 PM. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Rich’s kindness are welcome to attend and pay their respects to a man who gave so much of himself to others.

Rich leaves behind his incredibly loving family, who are now facing not only unimaginable grief but also unexpected financial challenges. Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping his family with funeral expenses, medical costs, and the support they need as they begin to navigate life without him.

Rich was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family. He served, protected, and cared for others without ever asking for anything in return. Now it’s our turn to give back — to support the family he loved so deeply and to honor the legacy of kindness and service he left behind.

Please consider donating or sharing this page. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps lift some of the weight from his family’s shoulders during this heartbreaking time.

Thank you for keeping Rich and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Rest easy, Rich. Your service, your laughter, and your love will never be forgotten.
