On the evening of Thursday March 12th, a wildfire came raging through the Sandhills of Garden County along with other counties being impacted. Our dear friend Jenna Ross and her family were one of the families impacted by this wildfire losing their home and all of their belongings. Jenna and Randy are dedicated members of the Garden County community in western Nebraska. Jenna works as a nurse providing compassionate care to those in need, while Randy serves as the County Sheriff, tirelessly protecting and serving residents during emergencies.
Tragically, during the recent devastating wildfires that has scorched hundreds of thousands of acres across the region, the Ross family lost their home. This fire, fueled by extreme winds and dry conditions, ranks among the worst in Nebraska's history. While Randy was out helping evacuate residents and coordinate emergency responses, the flames shifted direction toward their property. He rushed back to help his family escape with only a few belongings. They narrowly made it out safely amid thick smoke and raging fire, but their house and many personal possessions were completely destroyed.
Despite this heartbreaking personal loss, the Ross's have continued to exemplify selflessness. Randy has spoken about the overwhelming community support they've received- neighbors bringing clothes, meals, and essentials- and emphasizes the importance of heeding evacuation orders to save lives over property.
The Garden County community has been deeply impacted by these unprecedented fires, and families like the Ross's, who have given so much to others, now need help to rebuild.
