My name is Alicia Rivas and I am Nicki Rivas’s sister. As many of you may already know, we unexpectedly lost my little sister, Nicki Rivas, in February. Our lives were dramatically changed in an instant and we are struggling to navigate through our new reality. The grief and trauma of losing my beloved sister is indescribable.
Unfortunately, along with this unbearable loss, came extensive medical expenses. It is with the heaviest heart, that I am asking for support for my grieving family after this unimaginable loss. After arriving at the BSA hospital in Amarillo, Nicki and I were life flighted to the OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center. Despite the extreme efforts made by the medical team, Nicki was unable to survive. The suddenness of her passing has left us overwhelmed with grief and heartbreak. The emotional toll has been immense, and we are now facing significant medical bills and the costs of arranging a memorial service to honor Nicki’s life. We are reaching out for support from our community to help cover these expenses. Any contribution, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, will allow us focus on what matters the most right now, grieving the unexpected death of my sister. I understand that times are tough for a lot of people right now so if you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this and keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers. However, if you can give, no matter the amount, your charitable donation will make a huge difference. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express, and will help us honor Nicki’s memory in the way she deserves.
Thank you for standing with my family during this time of extreme heartbreak, grief and mourning. Nicki was an avid animal lover and advocate, known for her kindness and humor. She volunteered for several Animal Rescue Groups in Austin, San Antonio and Amarillo, TX. She touched the lives of everyone around her, always ready to help both people and animals in need. Her passion for making the world a better place was evident in everything she did. She was a funny, caring, kind, and all around amazing person. Her laughter always brought comfort to those who knew her. She was my best friend, my other half and we were inseparable until now. She was deeply loved, will never be forgotten and will always be greatly missed.
