Help Support the Richardson Family after an Unimaginable Loss to ALS & Frontal Temporal Dementia

Hello Everyone, my name is Chloe Detta - a close friend to the Richardson family.

It is with a heavy heart to share that Eric Richardson passed away peacefully at home on June 6th at 3:25pm, surrounded by family. Eric was only diagnosed with ALS (a horrible horrible disease) and frontal temporal dementia on December 10th 2024 - two devastating diseases that progressed way too fast. They were told he would only have 2-4 months to live. Though his time was far too short, the strength he showed in the face of these devastating diseases was nothing short of extraordinary.

For those of you who may not know, ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks the muscles by damaging the nerve cells, ultimately robbing a person of their ability to move, speak, eat, and breathe, while frontal temporal dementia impacts memory, personality, and cognitive function. His family kept him home and loved and cared for him, every minute of every day. He fought hard, with tremendous strength and pride, until his very last breath.

Over the past 7 years, I’ve had the privilege of not only getting to know this beautiful family, but also growing very close to them, and I have to say, they are some of the most selfless people I’ve ever met. They're the kind of people who would do anything for anybody, whether it was Daniel staying up late to fix your car, Erika opening her home, or Dianne simply giving you a shoulder to cry on, they always had your back and welcomed you with open arms. That’s why I want to make sure they’re taken care of. As they mourn the loss of their beloved Eric, the Richardson family is also carrying the financial burden of funeral/memorial costs, bills, and other related expenses that they should not have to worry about during this very difficult time. My only hope is that our community will come together for this family and carry them through this long journey ahead.

Eric leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Dianne; his children, Erika, Daniel, Nicole, Matt, and Tyler; their spouses, Mikayla, Steve, Katie, and Danielle; his beloved sister Margaret and her husband, Ray; and his cherished grandchildren—Dezarae, Elijah, Noah, Shelby, Jade, Brett, Keira, Max, Walter, and Cillian.

Rest in Peace Eric. You will be greatly missed.
