A backyard horror movie born in 1988 is coming back to life—bloodier, louder, and finally unleashed the way it was meant to be.

Help us finish what we started… and bring Campout Nightmare: Resurrecting the
Slaughter to the screen!

My name is Michael Sankovich.
When I was eight years old, I picked up a camera and made a backyard horror movie called Campout Nightmare.
No budget. No crew. No training. Just fake blood, imagination, and a love for horror.
Over the next three decades, I made 35 micro-budget films-features, shorts, and even a web series.

But the passion behind Campout Nightmare never died… it grew into five sequels.
With no industry support.
A small but loyal underground following.
And just the need to keep creating.
Even when it felt like it didn’t matter… I kept going. Because horror isn’t just something I love —
it’s part of who I am.
And now, after 38 years… This story is coming back from the dead.

The Project
Campout Nightmare: Resurrecting the Slaughter is a legacy sequel to the underground series I
started as a kid—rebuilt with the resources it never had.
This is not polished studio horror.
This is raw, stripped-down, and mean.
It’s:

A brutal, grounded slasher rooted in survivor guilt and society's true-crime obsession
A love letter to raw, VHS-era horror
Practical gore, real locations, and no glossy shortcuts
A throwback to the kind of horror that felt dangerous to watch
A full-circle moment, bringing a decades-old DIY story into something cinematic and fully realized.
Co-directed with the writer John Rhoades, this film is built on a shared vision of character-driven
horror that feels ugly, real, and unforgettable.

Why We Need Your Help

We are making this film on a micro-budget… and there is no safety net.
No studio.
No major investors.
No margin for error.
Every dollar you give goes directly into:

Blood-soaked practical effects
Locations that feel isolated and hostile

Paying the cast and crew

Equipment, sound, editing… everything needed to make this hit hard

This is the kind of film that only exists if people decide it should.

Why This Matters

I’ve spent my life making films with whatever I had… even when that meant working with
nothing.

As a disabled filmmaker, I’ve had to fight harder for every opportunity, every project, and every chance to be taken seriously.
This film is more than just another legacy sequel. It’s proof that passion can survive.
It’s proof that the kid who started this in 1988 never gave up.

And it’s a chance to finally show what this story can be with real support behind it.

Be Part of the Legacy
If you love horror that feels dangerous…
If you believe in underdogs…
If you want to help bring something raw and real into the world…
Join us!
Every dollar pushes this film closer to reality.
Every share helps it reach someone who gets it.
And every supporter becomes part of something that took 38 years to claw its way back from
the dead.
If you’re interested in investing or becoming a financial partner, we’re open to those conversations.
Thank you for believing in this and for helping bring it back from the dead
