Support the Reed family during John's medical battle
Donation protected
John was diagnosed with what was believed to be a bad case of pneumonia on Christmas Eve. After being treated and returning home, John continued to feel unwell.
John returned to the hospital and was admitted to begin receiving IV medications on December 27. John was able to return home on December 31, but his oxygen levels continued to drop to dangerously low levels.
Upon returning to the hospital on January 1, John was placed on a ventilator to allow his medical team to perform a procedure/scope to determine the cause of his continued illness.
A bronchoscopy was performed which led to the confirmed diagnosis of blastomycosis. John had to remain sedated while on the ventilator.
As his condition worsened, the decision was made to air lift him from Fort Sanders to UT Medical Center. Upon arrival, John was in shock in addition to his existing medical concerns.
He is currently on ECMO and will remain for anywhere from a week to a few months, with the long-term effects of John's quality of life still unknown.
He is stable but in critical condition.
He is permitted family-only visitors for 10-minute increments due to his high-risk status.
Heather continues to work as permitted while maintaining Summer and Hannah's schedules and keeping vigil over John. Your prayers and support will ensure the family is taken care of while John heals and recovers.
We are believing and praying for complete healing for John. Our God is a mighty God, and we believe he will perform a miracle.
