Mid-July SSgt Christopher Radford was deployed to Qatar. His wife, Jacqueline was pregnant with twins and began experiencing preterm labor 14 weeks prior to her due date while at home with family in Michigan. SSgt Radford was placed on emergency leave so that he could be with his wife. Ultimately the twins, Kaira and Carson, were born on 28 July and immediately placed in the NICU. His son has experienced some severe complications and has undergone multiple surgeries but is currently stable. His daughter appeared to be doing well, but unexpectedly passed away on 8 August.

Carson is still fighting to survive, and Jacqi and Chris are traveling back and forth from Holland, Michigan (where they are staying with family) to Grand Rapids to be with their son. Chris, Jacqi and their 4 year old son Chris III are grieving the loss of Kaira whilst doing everything they can to be there for Carson.
