WE NEED YOUR HELP!! ***Updates shown at end
In the heart of Compton, California, amidst multiple chemical plant businesses, our dedicated team at the The Purrty Pals launched a heroic rescue operation. Our mission: to save a struggling colony of cats that had made the industrial zone their dangerous home.
Over a tense three-day period, our team methodically set traps throughout the area, driven by a relentless hope to rescue five feral adult cats, four, four-week-old kittens, and a fragile one-week-old newborn—the lone survivor of her litter. Adding urgency to our task was one adult cat that was in dire need of immediate medical intervention, suffering from severe open wounds.
Each successful capture marked a small victory in a larger battle against adversity, bringing us closer to our goal of securing a safer future for these and many other feline inhabitants.
Once we thought we were done, a shelter asked us to take in a litter of 6 hissy, but scared kittens as they were facing end of day euthanasia for being unsocial.
We rescued them as well and will be fostering for the shelter, so when they are ready, they can be adopted.
These two separate rescue missions in a 1 week time span has brought 16 new cats and kittens, with possibly more to come.
We have received some donations from the chemical plant workers and owner, but more are needed to continue to help that colony, as well as the 6 kittens we are fostering for the shelter.
Everyone from the Chemical plant needs a Veterinarian visit, flea control, de worming, fecal testing, FeLV/FIV testing, vaccines, microchipping, spay/neuter, and supplies (food, litter, litter box/scoopers, toys, blankets, scratch posts, food/water dishes, cat gloves, cleaning supplies, etc.).

UPDATE AS OF 06/08/2024:
Archer the male orange tabby recovered from his open wounds and has now been adopted! He has a human family of 3 and lives happily indoors as the only pet.
Tuxedo the black/white male has been pre-adopted! He is still in foster care and being treated for some mild eye conjunctivitis, and then will go to his new mom next week.
Tarzan and Jane (two adults) were released into a safe, backyard with a foster that will provide them food and shelter for their entire lifetime. They are seen in the yard daily and are much safer and happier in their new location.
Calico momma did unfortunately escape, but she is in a foster's backyard, not leaving and staying close for food and shelter. We are working on getting her trapped so she can be spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. It will then be determined if she needs to be released into a safe location, or if she can be an indoor cat and be adopted.
Our newborn kitten did well through bottle feeding and is now 6 weeks old! Her name is Leia. She was snap tested for FIV/FeLV this week and was negative, so she will start her FVRCP vaccine series this week and be spayed when she is of age. She is available for pre-adoption!
The 4 older kittens were transferred to another rescue as they needed a foster that could provide them more one on one work. We took in a litter of 5 kittens from that rescue and did a swap. 3 of the 5 kittens have been snap tested, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered. The other 2 of 5 are being treated by our Vet for mild URI and then will be spayed after.
The 6 kittens from the Corona shelter we decided not to only foster BUT transfer to our rescue. We did not want them to end up back at the shelter- even if that was to be adopted. So instead, The Purrty Pals rescue team found all 6 homes! 3 of the 6 have been spayed/neutered and the other 3 are being scheduled shortly. We also are continuing their FVRCP vaccine series, dewormed them, flea treated them, and fecal tested.
Update as of 07/06/2025:
We still have many cats in our care from the original Compton Chemical Plant rescue from Spring 2024, which are available for adoption through our website at: www.thepurrtypals.org and shown on the main photo here.
"Cali" Calico: Is the mom to Leia and the other 4 available kittens.
"Leia", the bottle baby single survivor born at the warehouse.
"Frito, Triscuit, Chenille, and Domino" are 4 of 6 kittens born to Cali Calico in foster care.
"Juliet" was rescued months later once being discovered alone in a trash can in the warehouse
"Tarzan and Jane" are truly more scared and feral cats. They were relocated to a backyard in Orange County where they live safe away from the chemical plant. We believe Tarzan could be an indoor cat with the right adopter.
How You Can Help:
Donations help us with the ongoing purchase of consumable goods for their care such as: wet and dry food, litter, parasite prevention and control, and vet check ups.
Please help us with this continued rescue mission by donating to our cause. Every donation, no matter the size makes a difference in these cats' lives.
Thank you for your support and generosity! ❤️❤️❤️
