Hi!
My name is Wojciech Stachura and I am a puppeteer, actor, director, and puppet creator. For many years, I have realized various, often extraordinary ideas in Poland and Germany. Now it is time for Amsterdam. After 10 years of professional work in Poland, I decided to move to this amazing city and continue my creative journey here.

Who I Am and What I Am Raising Money For?
I have always been fascinated by puppet theater and the art of animation. In Poland, I created many acclaimed shows, such as "Papety" and "BETON," which won awards at international theater festivals. My projects were presented at the Miniature Theater in Gdańsk and the Landesbühnen Sachsen in Germany, where they were enthusiastically received by both critics and audiences. In 2022, I received the POLUNIMA award for the most promising puppeteer of my generation. In 2023, I decided to move to Amsterdam, where I discovered the immense potential of this city for realising my artistic visions.

I am raising money for the "The Princesses" show, which will be presented at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival 2024. This is a unique project inspired by the stories and childhood objects of contemporary Amsterdam residents. In my show, I collect these stories and old dolls that have become carriers of personal experiences and memories.

Why This Cause Is So Important to Me?
"The Princesses" is a play in which puppets abandoned by children gain a voice. Until recently, they reigned supreme in the lives and imaginations of the children living in Amsterdam. Cast aside, still waiting for their children, the dolls tell the stories of their triumphs as well as the moments when they were abandoned. The dolls become a hard disk on which personal experiences are recorded—they take on individual characteristics when they become part of the children's lives. Their transformation is influenced by cultural background and family relationships. The puppets used in the project were mostly collected from local residents, and the script was created based on interviews conducted with the donors. The performance consists of an installation and a puppet show.

Collabration:
I am collaborating with exceptional artists on this project.
Monika Nowak, a performer and visual artist, specializes in installations and scenography. Her works are based on real events and dramatic situations, which she transforms into mysterious and theatrical installations.
The music for the show will be created by the Sarapata duo, known for their exceptional electronic and theatrical music. Their sound is unique and rich, and their compositions immerse the audience in an incredible atmosphere, perfectly complementing my show.

How the Money Will Be Used?
Organising a show at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival involves high costs. I need your help to:

  • Purchase materials for the production of scenography and the accompanying installation
  • Pay collaborators
  • Cover transportation and technical costs
  • Fund PR and marketing activities

Despite my efforts, I was unable to secure funding from the Amsterdam Cultural Funds. Therefore, I decided to create this fundraiser on my 36-th birthday, hoping that your support will help me realise this unique project.

Every euro raised in this campaign will be used for the production of the "The Princesses" show. The money will be used to purchase materials, pay artists and technicians, cover transportation, and promote the show.

With Your help, I will be able to fully focus on creating and preparing for the premiere planned for September this year!

How You Can Help?
Every donation, even the smallest one, brings us closer to realising our dream. If you cannot support us financially, please share this campaign with your friends and family. Together, we can make the "The Princesses" show an unforgettable event at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival 2024.
