Reese Porter was uncommon in so many ways. As a husband, father, son, brother, friend, neighbor, business owner... Reese made the world around him better. He made the people around him better. The generosity, creativity, joy, and encouragement of God found an outlet into this world through Reese. None of us were done with Reese on 1/11/26. We had so much more that we wanted from our time with him. We wanted more laughs, more stories, more meals, more Christmases, more trips, more phone calls, more anniversaries, more walks around the block, more music, more Reese.

Romans 12:10 encourages the church to 'Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.' Reese loved us with brotherly affection. He outdid us in showing honor. I'm certain that I've not met anyone more consistent and genuine in making those around him better, more encouraged, more appreciative, more grateful for the things they have.

I've been asked by so many - 'how can we help?', 'let me know what we can do.' I wish I had a clear reply to that question that I could give with confidence. I don't know for certain what help looks like. I do know however that money is a tool at our disposal. It is a tool that when wielded creatively and lovingly has great power in the hands of God. All that we have is on loan from God and I believe that when God's people use His things well, incredible help can come of it. There are needs we can foresee and many that we cannot, but making funds available to Laura and the kids can be one less thing to cause added burden in the month and years ahead. This GoFundMe is one material, accessible way for us to show our affection for the Porters, to show them honor.

A visitation will be held at Storyline Southwest Church from 4-8pm on Friday, Jan 16, 2026. There will be an open casket from 4-5pm and closed casket from 5-8pm.

A memorial service will be held at Storyline Southwest Church at 1pm on Saturday, Jan 17, 2026
