Call Me Captain Bendanie (The Pirate Bunny ☠️☠️) is a 19yo Off The Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) whom I’ve been training the past 8 years.
He was given to me by his breeders as they thought he would enjoy jumping after an 8 year racing career.
He and I have had many setbacks and triumphs, and somehow we keep thriving!
He broke his jaw (and fully recovered) in 2019, followed by having to remove his eye due to cancer in Jan 2021. Followed by 5 vertebrae spine surgery in March 2021.
Then my world fell apart (broken engagement and rerouting of life) and then we then made it to AEC’s (Nationals) in Montana in 2022, finished last but finished, and at the time I had a second job that helped me be able to afford competition.
We got home and he broke his splint bone, which we recovered fully, but slowly. I lost the second job shortly after—which allowed me to truly focus on rebuilding my training and teaching business, Infinite Equestrian. It was challenging and rewarding to get this off the ground.
We have managed to keep training and got to ride last summer with my coach & former USET rider, Jim Graham in Alabama. With Jim’s coaching we decided to campaign again.
We won our first blue ribbon at Texas Rose Horse Parks’ spring USEA trial at Open Novice on March 22, 2026.
We have been competing on and off since 2022 and this was huge for us! My entry fee was paid for by a private sponsor, and I’m so grateful for their generosity.
With this win, we are very close to qualifying for the American Eventing Championships in Kentucky at the end of August.
Financially, the costs of getting him and I ready to compete and making the trip to Nationals is beyond what I can afford.
If someone you love has cancer, or someone’s house just burnt down, please help them first!
But if you have even just $5 to throw for underdogs Bunny & I to live a dream together before he retires it would mean the world to us. Any little bit or lot a bit helps. Even just an atta-girl&horse.
I plan on putting together a more comprehensive story but perfect is the enemy of done, and Bunny & I need some BunnyMunny to be able to finish the season.
The Bunny Munny will go towards:
*competition fees
*travel expenses (oh my diesel!!)
*coach fees (with the fabulous Jim Graham)
*sports medicine for Bunny (chiro, massage, adequan, vets)
So please help us if you’d like to. This horse is everything I have, and all my dreams put together. I’m so honored to be his human.
