Support the Pham Family's Stroke Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

My name is Jenny and I am the oldest child of Peter Pham. I’m reaching out during an incredibly difficult time for my family. My Dad has always been the backbone of our family, working tirelessly since the age of 12 after immigrating from America and eventually establishing his own business in Port Lavaca, TX. Now, everything has changed. My Dad recently suffered a stroke on the left side of his brain and, in a matter of days went from being a fully independent, hardworking man to someone unable to walk and barely able to speak.

My mom doesn’t speak English well, and as the sole provider, my dad’s absence has turned our family’s world upside down. I know my parents would prefer that I didn’t ask for help like this as they always valued their independence. However, if creating this campaign can ease even a small part of our financial burden and mental strain, I’m willing to set aside my pride to do so.

As one of four of his kids still in school, this has been a tremendous adjustment for us all to continue our day-to-day lives normally. My younger brother has uprooted his entire life to move back home to Port Lavaca to support my mom in working and caring for my Dad so that my sisters and I could continue our education in Houston. The stress and uncertainty from the mounting bills and my dad’s health weigh heavily on us all.

While my younger brother and my mom are trying to work at the laundromat to make ends meet, they are extremely exhausted from juggling both work and the demands of caring for my dad. He faces a long road to recovery, requiring ongoing physical, occupational, and speech therapy and support as he relearns basic skills. Each day is a challenge, and we are all committed to helping him through this journey to get better.

My Dad has been a sole provider for the majority of his life, working tirelessly to support his family. Now, after suffering this stroke, he needs the chance to focus on his recovery and find some peace of mind. His immediate instinct was to return to work to handle the family’s financial needs, despite him not being able to walk, which speaks volumes about his dedication. It’s hard for him to ask for help, especially since he’s always been the one giving to others. However, it's crucial to recognize that accepting support is necessary right now.

We’re seeking any help to cover medical visits and medication not covered by insurance, loss of earnings, and basic living expenses for our family of six such as electricity, water, food, and gas so my sisters and I are able to visit our Dad whenever we can. Every little bit helps and will go a long way in supporting us during this challenging time.

Thank you for considering a donation or sharing our story. Anything is greatly appreciated and your kindness means the most.
