Support the Perales Family

Hi, my name is Lisa and I am fundraising for the Perales family.

Why this family needs our help:
Patrick fell ill just a few days after Christmas. They thought he was recovering well at home, but with Patrick's inflammatory Asthma, once the illness went into his lungs, he couldn't breathe, and it happened fast. On Sunday, January 2nd, Patrick went into a full blown Asthma episode and he lost consciousness. His oxygen levels fell below 60%. Meagan had to call paramedics and they took him to a local hospital. Patrick was placed in the ICU on full oxygen, but the hospital staff struggled to keep his oxygen levels up due to so much liquid in his lungs. They found that he had double viral pneumonia. On the morning of Jan 4th, they placed him on life support, in a drug induced coma with mechanical ventilation, to give his lungs rest and try to dry out the liquid. Throughout this processes, Meagan had been fighting with the hospital to move him to a level 1 trauma unit that has other therapies available that could have helped him. The local hospital continued to refuse, until Meagan hired an attorney to force their hand. Fortunately, this tactic worked and Patrick was moved to a level 1 trauma unit late last night (Jan 5th), but not without incurring a $5000 attorney fee. Now that Patrick is in a level 1 unit, they are working round the clock to keep his oxygen levels up and dry his lungs out to get him off of life support. Patrick is currently in critical condition and fervent prayers are needed.

**Patrick is the primary breadwinner for the Perales family while Meagan is home with their youngest son, and supports their older son in group homeschooling**

Patrick is expected to be hospitalized for weeks at a minimum, but likely months. The damage to his lungs from the pneumonia is unclear at this time. Unfortunately, they have no other access to income and don't have insurance to cover their expenses. They have car payments, utilities, rent, insurance premiums, credit card minimums, homeschool tuition and more, in addition to the outstanding balance to the attorney. $15,000 will cover medical expenses, bills, cost of the attorney and make up some of their lost income for a short time.

Patrick passed away on February 24th after a long fight fight. His body became too weak to fight anymore.

Meagan and the boys have a serious need. Please consider donating as soon as possible.

What are other ways you can help?
1. Meagan could use daily meals. This family is gluten and dairy free (except butter).

2. Run an errand for her. She has both kids full-time by herself. This is difficult to do with a toddler.

3. If you tutor, her oldest could use help with his homework.

4. Pay one of her bills, if that is more comfortable than donating on here.

5. If you are an attorney, help her with legal paperwork (such as Durable POA), Pro Bono.

6. If you work for the media, we have a story to tell. Contact Lisa Wolff.

7. Pay for a housecleaning service. She doesn't have time to clean.

8. Pray for Patrick, daily.

Contact Lisa with any questions. Thank you for helping this amazing family.
