Support the Palmer Family

Rich Palmer is spending Christmas in the hospital, away from his family. After experiencing shortness of breath and fatigue, Rich scheduled an appointment with his family doctor. Rich had some abnormal labs, but was sent home with some meds and was awaiting review from a cardiologist. A day after his doctor's visit, Rich got a call from the cardiologist assigned to his case and was advised to admit himself to the hospital. Rich was suffering a mild heart attack. This was on December 23rd. Rich was transported from Brainerd to Duluth for an angiogram. The test revealed blockages of 80-100%. He is currently at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth awaiting triple bypass surgery. Rich's case is very rare and if he hadn't been shoveling snow, which triggered the heart attack, his condition would have likely gone unnoticed. He is very lucky and we are very happy this was discovered in time.

Rich is not allowed visitors and is spending Christmas alone. Anyone who knows Rich will understand that his only worry is for his family and friends. He's not worried about himself at all. Just concerned that the rest of us are missing him on Christmas and worried about him and his recovery. His only want right now is clean underwear as we never expected him to be in the hospital and away from home so long.

Rich is the sole provider for his family of four, Jenny, his wife, and their two daughters Josie and Lilly. He has health insurance, but it isn't enough to cover his week long hospital stay, the procedure and rehab. Rich will need to take almost eight full weeks off work. He has three weeks of PTO, but after that the Palmer family will be without income. Meeting the basic needs for the family along with the cost of rehab and his medications will be a severe hardship.

Rich is one of the most laid back and accepting people you will ever meet. He has worked incredibly hard to care for his family and friends. Rich is highly respected in his field and never has an unkind word to say about anyone. He is an amazing husband, father, brother and son.

Rich is loved by so many of us and would never ask for help if it wasn't needed. Please help us support Rich and his family so he can stop worrying about us and start to focus on his road to recovery and healing.
