The Palestinian Culture Club (PCC) at the University of Alberta is proud to share that five of our executive members — Hannah, Fathi, Faisal, Sawsan, and Abdulla — have been selected to attend the 2026 United Nations Global Peace Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. This prestigious summit, hosted by Humanitarian Affairs Asia, brings together young leaders from around the world for meaningful dialogue on conflict resolution, peacebuilding, global cooperation, and humanitarian leadership.

About the Global Peace Summit

The Global Peace Summit is an international platform that empowers youth leaders passionate about creating a more peaceful and just world. Participants engage in high-level discussions, leadership workshops, collaborative problem-solving, and skill-building sessions with peace activists, humanitarian experts, and global changemakers. The summit emphasizes the importance of youth-led solutions to modern challenges and equips delegates with the tools they need to drive positive change in their communities.

Why This Matters for Palestinian Students

For our delegation, this opportunity represents far more than academic enrichment; it is a meaningful milestone for Palestinian students at the University of Alberta. As young leaders navigating both academic and community roles, we recognize the importance of including Palestinian voices in global conversations surrounding peace, human rights, and justice.

We plan to use this platform to build international networks, foster a more profound understanding, and enhance our capacity to support and uplift the Palestinian community in Edmonton. Our participation will enable us to represent not only the University of Alberta but also the broader Palestinian community in Canada, which continues to advocate for visibility and recognition.

Financial Need

Although the opportunity is invaluable, the financial cost presents a significant challenge. Each student faces an estimated expense of $3,500, which includes:

-International flights

-Accommodation

-Summit registration fees

-Local transportation

-Meals

As full-time students, affording these costs without external assistance is extremely difficult. We are turning to our community — families, friends, supporters, and local organizations — to help make this journey possible.
