We at the Old School Shakespeare Collective are committed to bringing Shakespeare as Shakespeare would have performed Shakespeare to Chicago and beyond!
Our dedicated team and cast come from various walks of life with beautiful and diverse backgrounds. We are a theater company dedicated to bringing the works of Shakespeare to life. Our performances are intimate, engaging, and unforgettable. We blend serious acting with an unserious atmosphere to create a unique theatrical experience. As a collective, we strive to bring back the classical arts to the forefront of the modern communities we live in. Our founder, Wyatt McCall, has had a passion for Shakespeare since he was a child and, since then, has had a passion for maintaining it in his adult life. Inspired by the way Shakespeare was performed in the Elizabethan Era, inside pubs, alongside the townspeople brimming with life and culture, Wyatt sought to create a space where these plays could once again be performed in such a manner. You can't break the 4th wall when it was never there to begin with.
THE MISSION STATEMENT:
The Olde School Shakespeare Collective is a collective of actors/directors/artists driven to create theatre within a community-oriented aesthetic that emphasizes Shakespeare for the working class. We don't utilize a director; we direct ourselves. We rehearse our work once, and we perform it in a public house where members of our community can come, have a drink, Interact, and leave with a new notion of how theatre can be created and performed. We do this within a non-hierarchical theatre-making structure that places those doing the work at the forefront of our priority list. We are mad scientists experimenting with form using the theatre-making techniques of old to create modern responses.
Your generous donations will cover production costs, costumes, play rights, lawyers, and other expenses associated with producing a play. Your donations will also go towards the creation of our education program! We are eternally grateful for your generosity and hope you can make it to Chicago to see our final production.
