Hi my name is Alex Ochoa and my younger sister Maddie is in the midst of a battle.
Our sweet Maddie Mae has had a tough year. Some of you know the whole story and others just pieces so I’ll start from the beginning. Last year in April when everything was newly shut down due to Covid ,Maddie had brain surgery to relieve the pressure in her brain caused by blood clots. The surgery was a success but during the time she was off her blood thinners for the surgery she developed a clot that threatened her life and she spent 7 days in the ICU fighting for her life and ultimately lost her eye sight. Maddie has been in constant debilitating pain for a year with no answers as to why she was having so much pain. She has seen many specialists with no answers until now.
Maddie has now been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She is in the hospital now. We are praying that she can finish strong her chemotherapy.
After Maddie goes into remission she will need a bone marrow transplant. This will mean staying at Stanford for two months.
Maddie has a battle of a lifetime ahead of her but those of you that know her , know she can kick cancer's ass. She is strong and has a strong village behind her. We would love your continued prayer support.
The other reality of this battle, is that there will be a lot of additional medical and travel costs. My mom will need to go without income for several months as she supports my sister. If you are able to support my mom and my sister in this journey, we would really appreciate it. We hope everyone can remember them in their prayers.
We will try to update this site periodically. IPlease let us know if you would like a Team Maddie bracelet as a prayer reminder.
Thanks so much for your already strong support!
