On January 21, our awesome dad/husband/friend Casey O'Connor went into the hospital. Sadly, Casey quickly took a tragic, unexpected turn. Doctors have determined that Casey will not recover. Lili, his wife of more than a decade, sixth-grade daughter Amelia, and second-grade son Jude are preparing to say the hardest goodbye of their lives.
Casey has always been such a light in the world. It's not an exaggeration to say he's the smartest man in the room, an unbelievable father, and the world's best husband. Casey would do absolutely anything for anyone, especially his family. Lili is the art teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, and it was common to see him volunteering at school, hanging artwork, and doing absolutely everything he could to help his wife and children. Casey was a die-hard sports fan who raised Jude and Amelia to be able to spit out every sports statistic and even managed to convert Lili into a Mavs fan -- no small task! He is Amelia and Jude's hero, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better man for the job.
The O'Connor family has a long road ahead. They are reeling emotionally, of course, and we do not want them to worry about anything. Casey taught us all that family is the most important, so let's allow Lili to focus on Amelia and Jude as well as healing from this devastating loss rather than finances. Medical bills have already started coming in, including bills for a care flight to a nearby hospital. Funeral expenses are not something the O'Connors had anticipated needing at this stage in their lives, and those costs can be quite high. Casey was a financial provider for the family, and in addition to unexpected expenses, Lili is facing navigating life without his income.
All funds raised will go directly to the family to pay medical bills, funeral expenses, and to support Lili, Amelia, and Jude in the months and years to come.
