Paul and Erica Nelson have been our friends for almost 30 years. In February of 2024, Paul was diagnosed with Stage II Pancreatic Cancer. After eight rounds of chemo, the cancer spread to his liver making the cancer Stage IV. He has fought an absolutely stalwart fight, but he is now on hospice care. Cancer might send him out of this world, but Paul will always get the last laugh. Someday, we can all expect the thorough report of "Cancer: Why it Sucked While on Earth." Many will be the first in line to "hear all about" in the realms of the next world.
Everyone that is acquainted with Paul knows that he has never met a stranger, and he has the very best sense of humor. Paul is a lover of Jesus, his family, and entertainment. He worked as a reporter for KSL Radio for almost 20 years and has ended his career in journalism with KUTV.
If you don't know Paul, know that he is as great of a man as there ever was. He gave his all to his profession and his family. If you were to check out his Facebook page for just a few minutes, you would see that he spent so much of his time cooking, hanging out with his family (even if it was just to watch a movie), trying new things (some of the best videos on the entire internet are of him and K eating weird stuff), traveling, cheering on the Utah Utes, and watching his kids perform. Paul has always been the biggest cheerleader of his kids who all excel at musical theatre.
As Paul reaches the end of this chapter, I am creating this fundraiser to lift the family that he has devoted his life to. His wife Erica and their three children Autumn (24), K (22), and Josh (18) have not asked for this. In fact, I kind of had to force it on them. If you feel so inclined, or if Paul has ever made you smile, taught you something new, or made your day better, please consider a donation to the wonderful Nelson family to assist with medical bills and to lighten their burden as they face the loss of Paul's salary while also handling their grief and end-of-life costs.
