The Morgans need our help.

Daughter Lucy, age 11, was born at 25 weeks old, weighing less than 2 pounds. She spent more than five months in the NICU, gaining strength and weight. Throughout her life she has overcome the odds, and in the face of hardship she still finds delight in simple things like butterflies and her dog. Her tender beginnings necessitate a feeding tube, which she will likely always have. In recent years, an ailment has kept her confined to a wheelchair.

Alisha has faced multiple health issues as an adult, including autoimmune challenges and heart disease. She has endured multiple hospitalizations in an effort to stabilize her overlapping conditions and is herself dependent upon a wheelchair.

Adam has supported the family throughout this time but lost his job in IT two years ago. In spite of multiple applications, he remains unemployed. The collective weight of the responsibility he has carried has impacted his mental health, and he, too, requires care.

With Alisha and Lucy in wheelchairs, an inaccessible basement apartment that they have called home no longer meets their needs, and with an expiring lease and minimal financial resources, the family faces homelessness.

I have known Alisha for more than 20 years and have always been inspired by her indomitable spirit of faith and hope. These present challenges, however, have levied a burden that even she cannot combat easily. The goal of this fundraiser is to generate enough funds to get the Morgans situated in a new, adaptable home and provide for basic necessities family so they can start fresh and find a path toward thriving.
