Support the Moffitts During Tough Times

Donation protected
December 22nd for most families was spent doing last-minute errands in preparation for Christmas Day. Unfortunately for Mike and Cynthia Moffitt, this day was spent monitoring their 15 month old little girl who was sick and appearing to get worse. They took her to the Urgent Care, which confirmed upper respiratory issues and pink eye. They went home hoping for improvements.

On December 23rd, they ended up at the Emergency Room. Scarlett had gotten worse and now had a fever, low oxygen, and an elevated pulse. Tests came back to confirm RSV, which was only being compounded by her constantly throwing up. After a bit, they sent them home to monitor with the idea that little Scarlett would improve best in the comfort of her own home. That was not the case.

On Christmas Eve, the Moffitts found themselves back at the ER. Scarlett’s oxygen had dropped to 89, with her pulse at 200+ and a fever staying around 103. They were admitted into the hospital, and Scarlett was immediately put on IV fluids and an oxygen mask, and this is where they still are. Scarlett is not yet improving, though she tries to give small smiles or waves to her parents. She’s progressed into pneumonia and has to be put on an NG tube and do a breathing treatment every 4 hours.

Despite spending their holidays in the hospital with their sick little girl, Mike and Cynthia are just trying to stay positive. This is becoming increasingly more stressful as Cynthia is coming to the end of her available PTO, and she does not yet qualify for FMLA through her job. On top of this, Cynthia is 7 months pregnant and battling constant nausea, dehydration, and other side effects brought on by the stress of the situation.

Though the focus is just on their family and getting little Scarlett healthy again, the stress of potential job loss or too many unpaid days with a large hospital bill looming in the future does not help this family. This fundraiser is that help so that they can hopefully stay focused on their health and getting their baby girl home and healthy again.
