Support Mikesell Family of 8 as Dad Fights Cancer

Please help support the Mikesell family of 8 as Jon, the husband of Bethany and father of 6 children, fights cancer. Your generous gifts will support the Mikesell family’s living expenses and Jon’s medical treatments.

Jon has cancer (renal cell carcinoma), and as of May 12, 2021, he has slipped into communicating hydrocephaly (from swelling of meninges and intracranial bleeding) as a side effect of the brain surgery he underwent recently. Continued surgical intervention (shunt placement) could cause further decline, and there is no clear path forward. The doctors have sadly given Jon only "days to weeks" to live.

Bethany, Jon’s wife of 23 years has been working tirelessly since Jon was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Because Jon has not been able to work, Bethany works 3 different jobs (as a full-time hospital Physical Therapist Assistant, a part-time Physical Therapist Assistant in home healthcare, and a part-time Personal Fitness Instructor at a local fitness center) in order to care for Jon and raise their 6 beautiful children. Even with the difficulties of her situation, Bethany is always positive, compassionate towards others, joyful, helpful, and sacrificial. Just meeting her, you can instantly tell she genuinely cares about you and her family reflects the same character.

With Jon’s worsening cancer progression, Bethany has taken leave from work to spend time with her husband and family during his last days of life. Unfortunately, she does not have any paid time off yet due to having just started her new job, so in order to be with her husband during his last days, the family has no income. The hope of this fundraiser is to allow Bethany and her children to spend time with Jon as he fights through his final days without the added burden of medical bills piling up and the stress of paying for living expenses. Any donation you give would mean that you’re giving the Mikesell family the precious gift of time spent together and your gift would relieve Bethany from the financial burdens of supporting a family of 8 during this difficult time.  Instead of being worried about finances, Bethany would be enabled to fully focus on caring for her husband and supporting her six young children through this time.

This GoFundMe account is being set up by the friends and colleagues of Bethany. We admire her dedication to her family and passion to care and love others, and want to support and give to the Mikesell family in their time of need.
