Hi everyone, I’ve been given permission by the Meyer family to share Dalton’s story and create this gofundme page to help alleviate any financial strain this may cause for their family.
Dalton has battled more than anyone his age should…suffering a stroke at age 19 and undergoing a heart transplant at age 20. Although stubborn at times- he has conquered everything that he has encountered with bravery & strength.
Dalton is very selfless- he’s there for anyone at any given time . And I’m hoping now in return, people can be there for him and his family. Any amount will help. And if you aren’t able to help financially- I know that there is strength in prayer as well.
With Love, Summer
Dalton’s Story from his sister Jessica-
“For those of you that don't already know, Dalton was hospitalized last Tuesday for what we were hoping were minor transplant related issues. He was being treated for fluid retention and a few other things. It seemed like it was minor rejection and while there were some bumps in the road, they were being worked through.
Saturday morning Dalton went into cardiac arrest and lifesaving measures were taken by the amazing staff at Northwestern.
He is currently on ecmo so that his heart and lungs can rest, a ventilator to aide with his breathing and dialysis to allow his kidneys time to heal.
While a longterm plan has not been determined by his doctors yet the daily goal is to allow his body time to rest and recover. During his neuro checks he is able to respond to basic commands and is able to nod yes or no to questions when asked. Other than during those checks, they are keeping him sedated so that he is comfortable.
He is currently having a right cath/biopsy performed to check the performance of his heart and to confirm the suspicion of rejection being present.
We are overwhelmed and truly moved at the amount of people that care about and love our guy! We will try to update here daily as he progresses. Please keep the prayers coming, we need all we can get!”
