Audrey and Chad Merritt. Their story is inspiring. But these events are heartbreaking. After falling in love several years ago and blending their families during the uncertainty of the pandemic, Audrey and Chad set out on June 5, 2025, for a fresh start, moving cross-country from Arkansas to the East Coast with their four children.
But what should have been a new beginning turned into a nightmare.
Posing as long-distance movers, two men stole nearly everything they owned. Despite identifying the suspects—both with criminal records—law enforcement has made no progress.
Within a few weeks after arriving and as they had started to rebuild their lives in their new home, they were hit again: a man arrived with a moving truck and demanded payment for what little remained of their belongings. Soon after, they also discovered that their bank accounts had been wiped out using old checks packed in their stolen belongings.
Audrey, a longtime advocate for children and families, and Chad, a small business owner and community leader, now find themselves in urgent need.
The money from this GoFundMe campaign will go towards clothing for the toddler, tween, and teens, household goods, including furniture, bedding, kitchenware, dinnerware, pet supplies, and whatever else can be replaced as soon as possible.
They’ve given so much to others. Now it’s our turn.
Please give what you can. Every dollar helps them rebuild their lives and bring attention to this crime, so others won’t suffer the same. Share their story widely. Let’s turn this tragedy into action—and justice.
With love and gratitude,
