Support Joe and Betsy (Garbe) Meres and their son Ethan!
Recently my nephew (and godson) Ethan was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. He is only 14 years old and facing a long journey ahead. He has Ewing Sarcoma in the left ilium of the pelvis. This means for the next several months (at least through the end of 2023) he will be receiveing intensive chemotherapy in the hospital.
My amazing sister, Betsy, and her husband, Joe, are the loving parents to four children, my godson being the oldest, and they live in International Falls, MN.
**5/1/23 UPDATE**
The family received a second opinion on a treatment plan at the University of Minnesota. They have decided to go forward with treatment at the U of M. We've put it all in God's hands, and He answered their prayer for housing today with an available house to rent in the metro area that will allow the family to be close to the hospital! This, however, means they will now be 5 1/2 hours from home. My brother-in-law must continue working back home, and my sister homeschools all four children fulltime. Starting shortly they will need to be paying both the mortgage on their home and rent/utilities for this home in the cities. On top of that, my nephew's medical bills are a heavy burden.
If you know my sister and brother-in-law you know they are hard-working, honest, good people. I am setting up this GoFundMe because I want to do everything I can to support them, and I know there are good-hearted people out there who will be willing to say a prayer, send a meal, or financially support this family, too.
My heart aches for my nephew. May God wrap His arms around him and hold him tight during his cancer journey.
