Keeping the Board Open: A Memorial for a Master of Wit and Chess
Most people knew my father as a sharp Financial Analyst for NYC or the taxi driver who genuinely loved the open road. But if he wasn’t behind a desk or a steering wheel, he was at the chess club.
My dad was the kind of man who started every day with a medium hot coffee (extra cream, two Sweet’n Lows) and a quick joke. If you asked how he was feeling, he’d tell you, “With my hands.” But beneath the wit was a man deeply invested in the success of everyone around him. He was a consistent presence—the kind of person who always asked, "Is there anything I can do for you?"
To honor his legacy, I am raising funds to support the chess club he loved so much and to sponsor a Memorial Chess Tournament in his name. Chess gave him a community, a challenge, and a passion. By supporting this fund, you’re helping us provide that same sense of community to other players and ensuring his seat at the table is never truly empty.
Thank you for helping me take care of the game that took such good care of him.
