Support Needed for Home Accessibility and Care Expenses for the McQuillan Family
The McQuillan family is currently managing two significant medical challenges affecting both their 18-year-old son, Owen, and his father, Joe.
Owen has Neurofibromatosis and is now receiving end-of-life care due to the progression of brain tumors. His mobility needs are changing quickly, and their family home requires modifications to ensure he can move safely and comfortably.
Recently, Joe was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a rare neurodegenerative condition. He is participating in a clinical trial at NYU, which requires travel and ongoing medical management.
Because of these medical conditions, the family is facing several practical and financial challenges. Necessary home and living updates include:
- Ramp at the front door
- Accessible bathroom
- Electrical inspection costs
In addition, the family’s income has been reduced. Joe is unable to work as he did previously because of his diagnosis, and Jessica is now on unpaid medical leave to provide daily care for her family. This has made it difficult to cover:
- Needed home renovations and accessibility costs
- Everyday living expenses during this period of limited income
Funds raised will go directly toward these immediate needs and will help ensure that Owen can remain safely and comfortably at home with his family.
Joe, Jessica, Joey and Owen are very grateful for taking the time to read their story and for any support you are able to offer—whether through a donation or by sharing this page.
