We are sisters Alex and Elizabeth McLennan raising funds to support our parents Laura and Don. They lost their home of over 35 years on the night of Tuesday, January 7 in the Eaton Fire, which has destroyed our childhood town of Altadena, CA.
Our parents have spent the past 35 years maintaining and updating this home as needed and where they built their family. This home has been a sanctuary for not just ourselves, but for friends, relatives, and families throughout the years. It has been a beacon for all family holidays and gatherings no matter what was happening. It has always been a place in our minds that we knew we could return to no matter the situation. At this home, we met our best friends whose families still live on the street, we learned to swim, we learned to ride a bike and play soccer. Countless events and celebrations were held. Every time we visited, we not just visited our parents and the home, but we visited the entire neighborhood.
Our parents bend over backwards to help everyone who needs help, and we just want to be able to return the favor.
These funds will be support immediate needs and basic necessities to help our parents get through this challenging transition.
Any additional funds that are not needed will be forwarded to others in the neighborhood and community who are facing similar hardships. With these funds, we want to help restart a community, our small street, a loving neighborhood…our friends and family.
