Hello, my name is Wendy, and I’m reaching out to ask for your support in raising funds for Marshall and Charlotte McLaughlin. They recently discovered toxic mold in their home, leading to the loss of all their belongings. While they are trying to remediate the situation, it’s possible they may lose their house as well, as mold damage is typically not covered by insurance. At this time so far 50% of the underside of their home is toxic black mold confirmed by testing. The walls and insulation have not come back yet but all those who have been out to assess have said this is the worse they have seen.

Over the past two years, Marshall and Charlotte dedicated themselves to rehabbing their home, with all work supervised and approved by township inspectors. They finally settled in with their beloved rescue dog, ready to start a new chapter in their lives.

Unfortunately, both Charlotte and their dog have experienced health issues requiring medical intervention at the hospital and vet due to the mold exposure. This has added to their challenges, especially with Charlotte facing the need for wrist fusion surgery next month after a recent procedure for Kienböck's disease failed.

Marshall and Charlotte have always gone out of their way to help others in difficult situations. Now, they find themselves in a challenging position, and losing everything to a disaster like this is emotionally devastating. If you can find it in your heart to help these two incredible people, your support would be life-changing. Thank you for considering their plight.

Your donation will go to help with immediate needs of replacement of daily items such as medications, clothing that could not be salvaged safely, and so forth, as well as safe living quarters as it is determined if it is even feasible to save the current home or if it will need to be demolished and another home placed.

Donations will also be used to help with resolving the mold and rebuilding.

Most of the locations to address the mold are saying it will be until the end of the year before they can even begin so it could be almost a year depending on the amount of damage and the estimates so far have been around 20k and that does not include replacing things like drywall, flooring cabinets, household goods etc.

This is not a sprint but a marathon while living in a rented space and 1/2 their income.

August 17th:

Charlotte found out that she is also losing her job as a manager for Occupational Therapy Group due to the contract not being renewed for the company and the new company will not hire her due to her recent recovery of the failed surgery and now the one to fuse that will have an additional 6 month recovery time at least.

The walls are not looking promising as they cave under pressure according to the most recent interior assessment.
