Calling on our local James Island community, and beyond:

We are a tribe, a community, a family…. And right now there’s a very special JICHS family that needs our support!
In February of 2020, James Island Charter High School was blessed with Coach Jamar McKoy…. a head football coach who showed up, hit the ground running and has worked incredibly hard to turn our football program into great success. Our James Island community is behind this program, and there’s a level of excitement and involvement and support since he’s been here, like we haven’t experienced in a long time! It’s amazing!! Coach McKoy’s amazing wife Tiffany also joined the JICHS crew, as part of the culinary department, and is also the cheer coach. They have 3 precious kids, who all go to school and play sports on James Island… they are a busy and active family, like many of us!
On April 25th, Tiffany was diagnosed with Triple Negative Ductal Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive type of breast cancer. She had surgery in May to remove the cancer as well as one of her lymph nodes. In early July, after recovering from the surgery, she started chemo. Within about a week of her first chemo treatment she had a terrible reaction that caused her to start losing function of her limbs. She could suddenly no longer use her feet, arms, hands… even her face was reacting. She was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a condition in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system. After spending nearly 2 months in hospital, she is currently trying to recover and rehabilitate from the comfort of her home. While she is still unable to walk or fully use her arms and hands, she is steadily showing improvement! Tiff and her medical team are working extremely hard every day! She has a wonderful family and home nurse that assist her with daily life tasks, for now. She still has a very long road ahead of her, several months or possibly more, but she is taking it one day at a time. As Jamar says with confidence in his heart, “God is in control!”

We ask you for a few simple things at this time ….
#1) Please keep the entire McKoy family in your thoughts and prayers!
#2) Please donate if you can!
#3) Please share this post!

Tiffany and Jamar are so strong, and have both stayed so joyful and positive through this incredibly tough journey. Let’s shower this sweet, special family with love and support! We can all work together to help shoulder some of the weight they are carrying by easing some of the financial burden!
Thank you so, so much!
