Support the Maugus Restaurant

Donation protected

If you have ever taken your kids or grandkids out for pancakes, held a business meeting, or met friends for lunch at the Maugus Restaurant, you have experienced firsthand the warmth and hospitality of the Papakonstantinou family. Now, we are asking for your help to show them how much the Wellesley community cares about their family and their business during this difficult time.

The Maugus has been a Wellesley institution since it first opened in 1937.  Peter and Vaso Papakonstantinou have owned and operated the Maugus for almost 40 years.  They have enjoyed serving so many Wellesley families, fondly remembering patrons as young children who now return with their own children.

Vaso and Peter have been particularly hard hit by the pandemic. Peter has suffered debilitating health problems. This Spring, they had to close the Maugus for 3 months. After re-opening with limited seating, their assistant cook, who has worked at the Maugus for over 17 years, was diagnosed with cancer. This has left Vaso – at 80 years old - to navigate the challenges of operating the business on a day-to-day basis during the pandemic.

Here’s how you can help:

1)  Donate the cost of a meal (or two) to this campaign
2)  Order breakfast or lunch for yourself or your kids from GrubHub
3)  Call and place an order for grab-and-go

There are so few multi-generation family businesses left in Wellesley. It would be a shame to lose such a local treasure. Thank you for your help!

With gratitude,
Cindi Fitzmaurice & Kristen Curtin
