It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic and unexpected passing of our beloved uncle, Paul Matthews, age 65, who was killed in a devastating head-on collision on Monday, March 25th, on Highway 15-501 near Donathan Lane in Moore County.
Paul was the driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck that collided with a Moore County Schools service vehicle, resulting in the loss of both drivers’ lives and shutting down the highway for nearly four hours. The accident took him from us far too soon and left a void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him.
Paul was a loving husband, devoted to his wife of 42 years. He was a proud father and family meant everything to Paul. He was the kind of man who showed his love through his actions—steadfast, protective, and deeply committed to those he cared for.
He was also a man of passion and personality. He loved riding his motorcycle on a clear day and took pride in his gun collection. These weren’t just hobbies—they were a part of who he was. Paul lived life with strength, independence, and a quiet joy that made everyone around him feel at ease.
As we grieve this unimaginable loss, we are also faced with the challenge of covering funeral expenses and caring for his young children left behind. We are reaching out to friends, family, and our community to ask for support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply a prayer.
