The Masquerade Theatre is a new Classical Theater Company based in New York and Connecticut!
We are committed to bringing classical theater to contemporary audiences in exciting and accessible ways, as demonstrated in our recent Off-Off Broadway production of Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare.
We are also extremely eager to amplify the voices of artists in our communities, which is why we are organizing our first Short Play Festival, featuring four new plays by local playwrights, coming to both NYC and CT this upcoming Winter!
A little bit about us...
The Masquerade Theatre has produced three full-length plays since 2022. We also co-produced an Off-Off Broadway production of The Importance of Being Earnest with our sister-company, Indigo Inferno Productions. In 2022, Lizzy Booth, Executive Producer of the Masquerade Theatre, was inspired by the Virtual Theater scene that arose during the pandemic to found this theater company, which would initially offer Virtual Productions. That summer, Lizzy directed and produced The Masquerade Theatre’s first show: a “Masq’d Staged Reading.” The first Masq’d Staged Reading was Much Ado About Nothing: A Virtual Performance, followed by Twelfth Night: A Virtual Performance the next summer! We then staged our inaugural live performance: Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, alongside The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde!
We are now eager to present our Short Play Festival to audiences in New York and Connecticut, featuring four, extremely talented local playwrights. Each Play centers around the themes of Existentialism and Coming-Of-Age.
Why these themes?
We selected these themes because we are inspired by the ever-changing times and the power of theater and its highly impactful ability to share new POVs with the audience. It is deeply significant to recognize that we are not alone in our individualism and that we are stronger together. Even when things seem hopeless, we can change the world, starting in small ways, starting with ourselves.
So... What are the plays?

A big part of our mission as a company is to support artists in their professional journeys, even in small ways. We are a professional company, hiring artists to do work, and their work is valued. We believe that paying artists for their work is an essential part of the process. And we need your help to do that!
Please consider making a donation to the Masquerade Theatre in order to help us produce these four special plays. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help us to support the artists involved in this production: playwrights, directors, actors, designers, stage managers, production team, etc. We are also counting on your generosity to help us afford our venue and to help us build our set. Every dollar counts, and no donation is too small!!!
A donation of $10 will help us feed our artists during our long tech rehearsal!
A donation of $25 will help us provide reliable and sustainable props for our actors to work with.
A donation of $50 will go straight towards paying an artist's stipend.
A donation of $100 will help us with all of the above and will grant you the title of Major Donor, and you will be listed in our playbill as a Major Donor for the rest of our upcoming 2025 Season!
Thank you so much for your support! We look forward to seeing you in our audience this Winter!
